It normally requires a cambelt change but I've been told the ceed has. A timing chain fitted, does anyone know when these need to be replaced.

Timing belt change interval. I have a 59 plate Kia Picanto 1.0 petrol. I live in Scotland i.e. not Australia, not under severe usage conditions. The maintenance section in my owner's manual (p.7-13) says that the timing belt should be changed at 90,000 miles, but garages are telling me that it needs changed at 60,000. Bit of a discrepancy there.

My old 2008 Ceed 1.6 Diesel has the original Belt at 320,000 KM. Snapped Timing Belt. Usually big problems with Pistons and Valves. Snapped Serpentine Belt.
