The Canon EOS R1 – The next flagship EOS R3 and 1D X Mark III — Remain the flagships. Meanwhile, Canon says it has two flagship cameras (not related to the ‘C’ series), which are: EOS R3, and the DSLR 1D X Mark III —“If you look at the EOS-1D, and compare it to the EOS R3, you know it’s worthy of the ‘flagship’ designation because it’s equivalent in terms of Canon’s
The Mark III uses a new 191-point autofocusing (AF) system, an upgrade from the 61-point AF system of the Mark II, as well as a 400,000-pixel RGB/IR metering sensor for better subject tracking.
Pre-PMA 2007: Canon has today announced the latest iteration of their EOS-1D digital SLR. The Mark III has a ten megapixel APS-H (1.3x FOV crop) CMOS sensor and can shoot at ten frames per second. It features the updated DIGIC III image processor, a new 19 area Auto Focus system, up to ISO 6400 and a 3.0" LCD monitor (with a live view feature). The Mark III should ship in April for US$ 3999.
With two DIGIC 5+ image processors, the 1D X can maintain 14-bit A/D conversion at 12 frames per second. Canon says the pair of processors is capable of bringing 17 times more processing speed
On the face of it, though, the latest model offers little that looks likely to make the same impact. The 5D Mark III has a 22MP full frame sensor in a body that's based on the EOS 7D design, and with a 61-point AF system borrowed from the flagship EOS-1D X. From the glass-half-empty point of view, this could be seen as an unambitious update

While dynamic range testing by Photons to Photos shows the original EOS-1D as topping out at 7.72 stops of dynamic range, compared to the EOS-1D X III at 11.25, in real-world images, the 1D's photos look good. Granted, they likely don't hold up well at large sizes, high ISOs or when making extensive adjustments during editing.
Despite its much higher pixel count, the EOS-1D Mark IV is capable of shooting at the same maximum rate – 10fps – as its predecessor. This gives the Canon camera a 1fps advantage over the Nikon D3S. Given the problems with the EOS-1D Mark III’s AF, it is hardly surprising that Canon has introduced a completely new system for the EOS-1D
The EOS-1D X Mark III sensor has a relatively strong response in our Portrait ( Color Depth) category, measured at 24.2 bits, but it has an excellent maximum dynamic range of 14.5 EV at its lowest two ISO sensitivity settings (ISO 50 and ISO 100). That’s the widest dynamic range of any Canon camera measured to date.
